William “Bill” Newton Allison, a devoted family man, serviceman, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, with his loved ones by his side. Born on August 21, 1936, in Concord, North Carolina, Bill’s life was a testament to hard work, faith, and kindness.
Bill served in the United States Army, as a young man, which taught him discipline and dedication. For 43 years, he was employed at Domino Sugar “The Sugar House” as a maintenance supervisor. Bill’s experience earned him the respect of his coworkers, and was sought out for his knowledge in the production department.
After his retirement from the “Sugar House,” Bill and Cass enjoyed spending their summers at their beach house on Oak Island, NC. He found joy and solitude at the beach with his wife Cass by his side. He especially cherished his time there when his children, and grandchildren would visit.
Bill was a true handyman; he knew how to fix anything. He was always working on projects around the house, fixing bicycles, working on one of the family cars, or assisting neighbors on projects. He could do it all. Bill was known for always having a smile on his face and helpful at any request.
Bill found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed collecting all types of trains and had them on display in his computer room. When visiting family in western NC he always visited Ole Fort to sit by the railroad tracks watching and listening to the sound of the steam engine trains.
He was rarely without a camera in hand, and whether photographing family gatherings or enjoying time with the family dogs, he found joy in moments shared with loved ones.
Bills faith was strong; he served for countless years at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church and led the trustees in taking care of the church building and property. His pride in belonging to Wesley Grove reflected his deep faith and the vital role it played in his life.
Family was the heart of Bill's world. But the love of his life, was his cherished wife, Cass. She was his source of his love, contentment, and joy for 72 loving years. He leaves behind his daughters, Catherine Allison Guido (Michael) and Debbie Allison; and his sons, Bill Allison (Gina) and David Allison. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, William Charles Allison (Rachael), Niclas George Allison, David Eric Allison, and Taylor Lynn Allison, who forever carry traces of his wisdom, humor, and love. He also leaves behind his sister, Patricia Allison Pepper, who shared a lifetime of memories and family bonds.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, George Lee Allison; his mother, Gladys Ellis Allison; and his brother, George Allison. Though they have gone before, their memories remain a source of comfort and strength to those who knew them.
Bill Allison’s life was marked by his gentle nature, hardworking hands, and a heart full of love. His presence was a blessing to all who knew him, and his loss leaves a profound emptiness. Although his journey on earth has ended, the light he cast upon this world and especially his family will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he left behind.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
