Walter Goodman Obituary

Walter “Lenny” Goodman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, at the age of 64.  Born on September 29, 1961, in Cheverly, Maryland, Lenny’s warmth, humor, and enduring kindness shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Lenny’s journey through life was marked by a steadfast devotion to his family.  He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah M. Goodman, who was his partner and confidante through every season of life.  Together, they built a home filled with laughter, support, and unwavering love.

Lenny’s legacy continues through his daughters: Amber Holland, Diane Sollers, Tonya Forame, Tammy Everhart, and Brandi Carr.  To his daughters, Lenny was not just a father, but a steady hand, a patient teacher, and a source of boundless encouragement.  His pride in their accomplishments and his constant presence at every milestone reflected the depth of his devotion.

Lenny’s embrace extended even further, blessing him with the joy of 22 grandchildren and the delight of 14 great-grandchildren.  Each child—whether bouncing on his knee, sharing a holiday meal, or simply calling to hear his voice—knew the joy and security of being truly cherished.

Surviving Lenny are his dear sisters: Betty Koerber, Angel Gilcrest, and Amy Balog, who shared with him memories of their Maryland childhood, laughter and sorrows alike.  He also carried in his heart the memory of his sisters Mary Barnes and Nancy Haft, who preceded him in death, as well as his mother, Mary Goodman, and his father, Louis Goodman. Lenny cherished the stories and traditions of his family, honoring the wisdom and spirit handed down through generations.

Though words cannot encapsulate a life as full and generous as Lenny’s, those who knew him will remember his strength of character, gentle humor, and the quiet way he put others before himself.  Whether hosting family gatherings, offering advice, or lending a hand, Lenny found meaning in selfless acts and everyday connections.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Lenny’s extraordinary life.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and again from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services P.A., 1 2nd Ave S.W., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Heartly House at https://heartlyhouse.charityproud.org/donate

Although his presence will be dearly missed, Walter “Lenny” Goodman’s love and wisdom live on in those he leaves behind. His enduring light remains forever in our hearts.
