It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sharon Hampton Palmer, affectionately known as "Sherry," who passed away on February 24, 2026, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Born on April 23, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, Sherry’s journey brought joy and kindness to all who knew her.
Sherry made her mark in the education sector, dedicating many fruitful years to school administration at Marley Neck Elementary School. Her commitment to fostering an enriching environment for students was evident in her work, where her gentle spirit and generous nature resonated within the school community.
Outside of her professional life, Sherry had a zest for life that was enriched by her many interests. She cherished time spent in Ocean City, Maryland, particularly at Lombardi's Restaurant on 94th Street, where memories were made amongst family. Her love for Disney World took her on magical adventures, while her fondness for ladybugs reflected her gentle connection to nature. Halloween stood out as her favorite holiday—a time for creativity and celebration. Times were often marked by her delightful baking. A guiding light in the lives of many, especially her dear nieces, Sherry was often heard sharing her favorite saying, “Always Thinking,” a testament to her thoughtful approach to life and its challenges.
Family was central to Sherry’s world, and she leaves behind a loving brother, Keith James Hampton and his wife, Theresa, and cherished nieces, Crystal Lynn Alt (Timothy) and Ashley Nicole Frye (Brandan). She also delighted in the joy brought by her great-nephew, Timothy Alt, Jr., and great-nieces, Luna Rae Frye and Victoria Estelle Alt, who held a special place in her heart.
Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James M. Hampton and LaVern E. Hampton, as well as her sister, Susan H. Fedock. Their memories are carried forward in the love and kindness that Sherry exemplified throughout her life.
