Ruth L. Meyer

Ruth L. Meyer, 92, of Severn, Maryland, passed away on August 2, 2026.  She was born on February 9, 1934, in Bittinger, Maryland, and lived a life marked by love, kindness, and steadfast faith.  Ruth will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Ruth grew up in Reisterstown and attended high school, where she built the foundation for a life centered on family, faith, and quiet strength.  She carried those values with her throughout her life and shared them generously with those around her.  Ruth was a Christian, and her faith was an important part of who she was. It guided her in her daily life and gave her comfort, purpose, and grace through every season.

Much of Ruth’s life was devoted to her home and family.  She was a homemaker who took great pride in caring for the people she loved.  One of her greatest joys was babysitting her grandchildren, a role she embraced with patience, warmth, and delight.  Her home was a place of comfort and welcome, and she created a loving environment that will be cherished in the memories of her family forever.  Ruth found happiness in the simple and meaningful moments of life, especially those spent with her loved ones.

Ruth had a gentle appreciation for the world around her.  She enjoyed bird watching and found peace in observing the beauty of nature.  She also loved classic literature, which reflected her thoughtful spirit and appreciation for timeless stories.  These interests were a reflection of her quiet, reflective nature and the grace with which she lived her life.  Those who knew Ruth will remember her as a loving, kind, and faith-filled woman whose presence brought reassurance and warmth.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna M. Hase (Rev. Rick Hase); her son, Eric G. Meyer (Robin Meyer); her grandson, Mathew Nelker (Bridgette Nelker); her granddaughter, Jessica Nelker (Kyle Abel); her grandsons, Zach Meyer and Chase Meyer; her great-grandson, Brooks Abel; and a great-grandchild, baby Nelker, who is on the way.  Ruth’s family was the center of her world, and she took great joy in each generation.  Her love for them was deep and enduring, and her legacy will continue through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Meyer, Jr.; her sister, Marie Cole; her brothers, Raymond Brenneman and Orval Brenneman; her mother, Althea Brenneman (nee Oster); and her father, Joel Brenneman.  She was also preceded in death by other beloved family members who helped shape the life she lived and the memories she carried with her.  Though she experienced loss, Ruth remained a woman of faith and resilience, and she met life with quiet dignity and strength.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her life was a beautiful example of devotion, humility, and love.  She leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness and care that will continue to inspire those who loved her.  Her memory will be treasured always, and her influence will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come. 

Family and friends are invited to gather at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services on Thursday, Aug. 6th, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm.  Her funeral service will be held on Friday, 12 pm, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 308 Oak Manor Drive, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.  Interment to immediately follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
