Ralph Herman Bessling, age 87, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at Washington Hospital Center.
Born in Baltimore, MD on October 5, 1938, Ralph lived a life defined by hard work, service, and friendship. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4).
Ralph was a proud lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a Past Commander of August J. Raveio Post 195, where he was deeply involved for many years. The Legion was like a second home to him, and he cherished the many friendships he made there.
In his free time, Ralph enjoyed playing BINGO, spending time fishing, cheering on the Orioles and Ravens, and relaxing at the Legion with friends. He was known for his sense of humor, loyalty, and the simple joy he found in good company.
Ralph was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Nancy Ruskey.
He is survived by his loving children, Karen Overcash, Tina Ruskey, Jackie Keller and Arthur Ruskey; cherished grandchildren, Clay, Hannah, Sarah, Conner, Jordan and Brayden; and his caring brother, Vernon Bessling.
Interment for Ralph will be on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Maryland Veterans Cemetery - Crownsville at 1:45 pm.
