Naomi Berry

June 17, 1941 — June 29, 2022

Naomi P. Berry – Naomi Lee Parker Berry, 81, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Fernbrook Manor Assisted Living after a four month illness.  Ms. Berry was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Robert A. “Bob” Berry, Jr. in 2019.

Ms. Berry was born in Salisbury on June 17, 1941, to the late Jonas Lee and Emma Catherine Littleton Parker. After graduating from Wicomico High School in 1959, she attended Jefferson School of Commerce in Salisbury, focusing on secretarial studies. She was subsequently employed by the State of MD Department of Agriculture field office in Salisbury, where she met her future husband.  Years later, she returned to work for the late Dr. Elias Adamapoulos as an administrative and medical assistant.

Among her hobbies, Naomi loved to cook, especially for her family.  She had more than two hundred cookbooks at her passing.  She had a special touch for desserts, as was attested by her husband’s love of anything chocolate. It was common to find something sweet cooling on the kitchen counter on any given day, a delight to her family. Naomi also enjoyed gardening,  flower arranging and decorating her home.  She had a special touch for making beautiful floral arrangements that friends would often ask her to recreate.     Naomi also loved her many dogs, Harry, Charlie, Katie and Peanut.  They were her fur children.  Naomi was a doting grandmother to her three grandchildren, Michael, Sarah and Emily Williams whom she adored.  Her grandchildren have fond memories of her famous chocolate chip pancakes or her loud whistling when a meal was ready. She loved taking care of her family, and it showed in the many loving things she did throughout their childhood and into their adult lives.

A lifelong resident of Salisbury, MD, Naomi is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth A. Raistrick (Jeff) of Hanover, MD; three grandchildren, Michael Williams of Crofton, MD, Sarah Williams and her fiancé Chris Broderick, of Glen Burnie, and Emily Williams and her fiancé Michael Bloodsworth of Hanover; two great grandchildren, Aiden Bloodsworth and Madison Broderick; two sisters; Kay Hickson (Mike) of Salisbury and Patty Fisher (Clayton) of Easton, MD and sister in law Jan Berry of Lutherville, MD along with two nieces and two nephews, and several cousins.   Her neighbors of over 40 years, Barb Abbott and Connie Morgan were like family, watching over her after Bob’s passing.

Naomi was was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury, The Inner Wheel, Four Seasons Garden Club, and the Junior Auxiliary Board of PRMC Tidal Health.

Funeral services will be held at the Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery, Crownsville, MD, on Monday, July 11th at 1:45 PM, where her husband is laid to rest. The family asks that donations in her memory be made to the Wicomico County Humane Society.
