Maybelle Simmont (nee Reidy), 97, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on March 28, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Maybelle was born on November 6, 1928 to Amos Reidy and Anna Lou Reidy (nee Duncan). She graduated from Gwynns Falls Junior High School, and went on to have a 35 year career with Westinghouse.
In 1948, Maybelle met William “Irv” Simmont at Pop Webster’s and they were married three years later, on October 12, 1951. Shortly after, they moved into their new home on Audrey Avenue. Together, they raised their daughter, Cheryl, until Irv’s passing in January 1974.
In 1991, Maybelle retired and continued to live a robust life. She spent her time making memories with family, traveling and reading. She volunteered with the Friendship Veterans Employee Association for over 30 years, and at Partners-In-Care for over 10 years. The Glen Burnie Rotary Club presented her with the “Service Above Self” award in 2014, at the age of 87 for her service with Partners-In-Care.
Maybelle was predeceased by many beloved family members, including her husband Irv, her parents Amos and Anna Lou, her stepmother Anna C. Reidy, step-daughter Carolyn Komm, and sisters Gladys “Jean” Klingenberg and Antonie “Toni” Paulis.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl (David); her grandchildren TJ (Tonya) and Samantha (Paul); her great-grandchildren Nick, Alex, Lucas, Mara, Jack, and Cassie, her sister Geraldine “Jerry”, and an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends she considered family.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Friday, April 3rd from 5-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to take place at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, located at 7501 German Hill Road, Dundalk, MD 21222.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Dementia Society of America (www.dementiasociety.org) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
