Josephine Gates

Josephine Mary Gates (Joie), 90, of Severna Park passed away peacefully on Saturday November 20, 2021 at her home in Brightview Severna Park.  Joie was born on February 21, 1931, to the late Michael and Josephine Mielnik.  Joie grew up in Hollidaysburg, PA and graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1949.   She married the love of her life, Arthur S. Gates, on June 30, 1954.  Joie was a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother (Nanny) and great grandmother.  She was an amazing hostess whose cooking and baking skills were truly unsurpassed.  We will all fondly remember holiday times at her house with the wonderful meals and boundless baked goodies. Joie was a woman of strong Christian faith and conviction.  She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.

Joie is survived by her children; Amy Seipp and husband Tim of Pasadena, MD, Leslie Barrett (and Sam Bond) of Ocean City, MD, Jeffrey Gates and wife Beverly of The Villages, FL, and Steven Gates and wife Yen of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Christina Gates-Idem, Kelly Fanning, Michael Gates, Steven Gates, Kerri Gates, and Brian Seipp; and great grandchild, Ruby Gates.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, November 29th from 11 am to 1 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment Glen Haven Mem. Park.
