James Edward Jones

James "Jim" Edward Jones, 81, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, with his family around him.

Born on May 19, 1945, in Frostburg, Maryland, Jim was the beloved son of the late Irving Charles Jones and Ethel Mae Jones.

Jim had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; in his younger years, you may find him skiing, and throughout his life he found great joy in nature and animals. He especially loved spending time with family and friends and never missed an opportunity to enjoy good company. Jim was a proud member of the Drinking Run Hunt Club in Flintstone, Maryland, where he shared many lasting friendships and memorable experiences.

Above all else, Jim cherished his family. He will be remembered for his kind heart, love of the outdoors, and the many wonderful memories he created with those he loved.

Jim is survived by his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Scott and L'akina Jones; his cherished grandchildren, Mason and Abigail Jones; loving brothers, Dale, Ronnie, Wayne, Bennie, and George Jones; and loving sisters, Juanita Orndorff and Melva Goetz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Marie Jones, and his brother, William Jones.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue SW, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.  Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland.
