George "Dennis" Mcfayden

January 17, 1939 — May 21, 2020

Glen Burnie

George Dennis McFayden Jr., best known as Dennis, was 81 years old and a lifelong resident of Glen Burnie. He died from a sudden medical condition May 21, 2020 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was surrounded by family and passed peacefully. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Janice L. McFayden; son Brandon L. McFayden of Goldsboro, his wife Melissa McFayden and their children Aubrey, Gunner and Mason; and his daughter Charleen McFayden of Glen Burnie. He had fatherly love for his bonus daughter Kelly Kerrigan of Glen Burnie, her daughter Kayla and granddaughter Athena. He was proceeded in death by his parents, George Dennis McFayden Sr. and Lillian McFayden; his oldest son Colby A. McFayden and 2 step brothers Creston and Bob.
Dennis graduated from Glen Burnie High School. He served in the army in Germany where he was an expert marksman and received an education in electronics. He worked 30+ years at Westinghouse/Northrop Grumman as a technician. He was an active lifelong member of Glen Burnie Baptist Church, where his parents were founding members.
He was a loving yet ornery husband for 61 years. He enjoyed working on cars and could fix nearly any mechanical/electronic thing that broke. When his kids were younger he enjoyed boating, crabbing and camping as a family. He enjoyed waterskiing and snow skiing. He accomplished a lifelong dream of becoming a private pilot on his 50th birthday. He enjoyed flying for the next 20 years with an airplane club and later buying a plane with a partner. He loved flying friends to different destinations and eating at different airports. He visited every small airport in MD and VA and was working on PA when he had to stop flying due to a health condition. He loved being a grandfather and looked forward to Grandparent’s Day every year for each of his grandchildren at their schools. He always had pictures of his grandkids on his iPad that he loved showing to friends and bragging on their latest academic and sports accomplishments. He loved telling Br'er rabbit stories to his kids and grandkids. In his later years, he enjoyed bicycling and was in a senior cycling club, putting thousands of miles on his bike. He also enjoyed visiting and helping shut ins from his church. He loved Jesus and knew him as his savior, so his family has peace knowing he is now with Jesus and they will see him again in heaven one day. Until that day there will be a void in our hearts that only our heavenly father can fill. We look forward to having a memorial service at a later date to celebrate his life with friends.
