David Nelson Joseph Lease, 78 yrs old, a life long resident of Baltimore, MD passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 16, 2026. He was a proud man with a strong spirit, unwavering opinions, and a deep love for his family, friends, and country.
He proudly served 30 years in the Army and then the Army National Guard. He had a passion for anything military-related and carried that pride throughout his life.
He enjoyed working on cars, spending time with family and friends, bass fishing, listening to country music, eating out, and gathering at the American Legion. He was happiest surrounded by the people he loved most.
He is survived by his wife Anita of 42 yrs, his son, Bobby Shortz (Tracey), his Grandchildren; Michael, and Audrey, Great-Grandchildren; Connor, Abigail, Atlas, and Reed, God-Daughter Kayla (Jerry), Brothers; Raymond (Cindy), Robert “Bobby”, and Robert “Butchy”, Sisters; Sandy (Charles), Brenda (Bruce), Charlene (Chuck); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mildred (Smith), Lease, his brother Dee (Bonnie) and sister Joyce (Duke).
Though he may no longer walk beside us, his stories, laughter, strength, and love will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
