Cora Arend

On April 3, 2006, Cora Clark Arend passed on. Cora was predeceased by her loving husband of 31 years, Dr. Paul J. Arend. She is survived by her dear son, Dr. Anthony Clark Arend. Cora was predeceased by her dear parents, Johnnie and Lillian Clark. Cora graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1947. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Towson State University in 1952. She studied classical guitar from 1972 to 1976 at the Peabody Institute of Music. Cora taught elementary school in Baltimore county in the 1950's. During her life, she worked for the U.S. Department of Defense in Germany, worked as a full-time NSA employee, and was a part-time letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. Cora's career also included her work as a Russian Linguist and Intelligence Analyst, from which she retired in 1990. Cora was a member of the Severn United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a choir director at the church until her passing. Cora enjoyed many hobbies during her life. She loved bowling and working with children in the church. She was a very avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles. Cora was dearly loved by many people. She will be missed by many.
