Chiyoko Hay, 94, of Glen Burnie, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. Born in Sendai, Japan, Chiyoko was one of nine children of the late Kintaro and Miyoko Adachi.
Chiyoko found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of everyday life. She loved sewing and took great pride in cooking for those she loved. Her home was a reflection of her spirit—warm, welcoming, and always thoughtfully kept, as she found comfort and satisfaction in maintaining a clean and orderly space.
She is survived by her loving children, Patricia A. Hay and John Hay (Tracy); cherished grandchildren, Tanya Rankin, Danielle Rankin, Simon Hay, Ariel Deitrick (Justin) and Austin Hay; and her dear sisters, Hiroko, Hiddako and Junko. In addition to her parents, Chiyoko was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry O. Hay Jr.; and her loving children, Delores Hay, Jeffery Hay and Jo Ann Rankin-Hay.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, May 11th, from 10 - 11 am, with a memorial service immediately following at 11 am in the funeral home chapel.
