Catherine E. Whitacre

Catherine Elizabeth Whitacre, 85, of Glen Burnie, passed away on June 28, 2022, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.  She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 4, 1937, to the late Marian and Melvin Mills.  Catherine worked at Social Security Administration from the 1960’s through the late 1990’s, working her way up to Supervisor.  She was a member of the Stork Club from the 1950’s into the 2000’s, and the Red Hat Society of Abington.  She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, shopping, and spending time with her family.

Catherine was predeceased by her devoted husband of 61 years, Joseph C. Whitacre Sr.; beloved children, Joseph C. Whitacre Jr. and Pamela Harding; dear son-in-law, James Harding; her cherished granddaughter, Kaylynn Harding; and her dear siblings, Barbara Courtney and Paul Mills.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Terry Clarke; dear son-in-law, Steve Clarke; cherished granddaughter, Hannah Harding; loving great-grandson, Alexander Green; and her dear siblings, Melvin Mills and Nancy Wallet.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. S. W. (at Crain Hwy) on Tuesday, July 5th, from 2-4 – 6-8 PM.  A Celebration of Life will be held at on Wednesday, July 6th, at 10 AM, in the funeral home chapel. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery.
