After a lengthy illness, Catherine A. Hinson passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Severna Park, Maryland.
Cathy was born in Beltsville, Maryland, the daughter of the late Karl and Mary Hoffman, also of Laurel, Maryland, and she attended High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland. She and her husband, Donald, were together for almost 35 years and lived in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Cathy worked for Dow Jones’ National Observer Newspaper and was later employed as an administrative assistant for Greenhorne & Omara, National Data Company, Amerix, and Ascend One Corporation. Her hobbies included antiquing and collecting, specializing in Chinese Cloisonne` and statuary. She also loved watching ice skating and football games, always having a feline pet by her side.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald; loving brother, Donny Hoffman and his wife, Mer, of Sykesville, Maryland, loving sister Sharon, of Concord, North Carolina; along with grandnephew Jay, grandnieces, Kelli and Jessica, and their five children.
A memorial service will be held at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, PA, Glen Burnie, on Saturday, April 4th, at 2 pm, with a gathering prior from 1 – 2 pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or “Friends of Anne Arundel County Animal Services”, www.faacac.org, a nonprofit created by volunteers to help improve the lives of the county shelter’s homeless pets.
