Brian Hanzlik Obituary

Brian Keith Hanzlik, 66, passed away at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on February 22, 2026. Born on August 7, 1959, in Baltimore, Brian was the beloved son of the late Louis Albert and Betty Lou Hanzlik, and the cherished member of a large family, being one of eight children.

A true fan of football, he spent many joy-filled hours watching games, especially cheering on his beloved Ravens from the comfort of his treasured “mancave." His passion for the game was often matched only by his love for spending time with family, where laughter and shared stories filled the rooms of their home. Christmas was particularly special for Brian; he took immense joy in decorating the house, creating a magical atmosphere that brought everyone together in celebration.

Travel was another passion of his, with memorable trips to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where each visit unfolded into a new adventure. He also felt a deep connection to nature, finding peace and tranquility while camping in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Brian was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Laurence Walter; and his seven siblings, Robert Rothenhoefer, Richard Rothenhoefer, Jerry Rothenhoefer, Patricia Romig, Louis Hanzlik, Lois Byard and Albert Hanzlik.

Brian is survived by his devoted wife of 29 1/2 years, Jean Ellen Hanzlik; loving daughters, Lisa Marie Smith, Tammy Ruth Smith, April Lynn Hanzlik and Jacqueline Lee Hanzlik; and many cherished grandchildren, with a great-granddaughter on the way. He will also be missed by his caring mother-in-law, Ruth Walter; dear sister, Betty French; loving niece and nephew, Tony and Marie Jones, Theresa Taylor, Carrie Byard, and their children; his best friend, Jeff Kaler; and his adored companion and “son”, Bo.
