Barbara Amick Obituary

Barbara Ann Amick

Barbara Ann Amick 85, previously of Brooklyn Heights, Maryland, passed away peacefully with her family around her on July 20, 2026.

Born on November 30, 1941, in the Baltimore area, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Raymond W. Amick and Anna D. (née Etzel) Amick She was raised in North Linthicum and graduated from Brooklyn Park High School with the Class of 1959. Barbara spent her life in the Baltimore area and was a longtime resident of Brooklyn Heights.

Barbara was a devoted member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Curtis Bay, where she faithfully served her parish for many years. She was a lector, Eucharistic minister, RCIA catechist, and served on numerous parish committees, including the Advisory Board and Pastoral Council. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she generously shared her time and talents with her church community.

Barbara found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens and rarely missed cheering on her favorite teams. She loved crocheting, watching Hallmark Channel movies, and especially enjoyed heartfelt love stories. Most of her time was spent reading but she was also a frustrated writer, dabbling in short stories, articles, and poetry.  For many years, as editor, she wrote a small company newspaper called the "Scrutinizer" for the employees of Davis & Hemphell.  Some of her other interests included travel and family history.

She always tried to have time to encourage others to pray and dream.

Barbaras first love was her son and his family Raymond and Terry Amick.  Barbara is lovingly survived by her granddaughters, April Amick and Carlie Fida and her husband, Eric; her dear sister, Eilene Carter; her beloved grand puppy, Rosco and other grand fur babies, many cherished nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her dear sister, Marie Floyd and cherished niece Sandy Laucht

Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kind heart, generous spirit, and the love she shared with her family, friends, and church community. Her legacy of service, compassion, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

The family has asked for donations in her memory to the American Cancer Society, or Saint Judes Children’s Hospital.  The family will receive visitors at the Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, 1 2nd Avenue S.W. (at Crain Highway) Glen Burnie, MD on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on.
