On March 1, 2006, Alvin Paul Szczesniak of Millersville, MD. Beloved husband of Anne Szczesniak, dearest father of Joanne Leonberger and Richard Szczesniak; cherished brother of Gene, Ted, Terry, Kay and Tom; loving grandfather to Valerie and Rachel Leonberger. Mr. Szczesniak was in the US Navy from 1965-1988, serving in Great Lakes, IL from March-May 1965, USNCTC Pensacola, FL from June '65-Jan. '66, NCS Sidi Yahia, Morocco from Feb.'66-Feb.'67, NSGA Edzell, Scotland from March '67-Feb.'69, NSGA Winter Harbor,ME from May '69-May '71, NSGA Hanza, Okinawa from Aug. '71-Feb.'75, NSGA Homestead, FL from March '75-April '77, NSGA Edzell, Scotland from May '77-June '80, USS Deyo (DD-989)Charlestown S.C. from Sept.'80-Aug.'83, NSGA Edzell, Scotland from Aug.'83-Aug.'86, and NSA/CSS Fort Meade, MD from Aug.'86-Aug.'88.
The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral Home, P.A., 1 Second Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy.)Glen Burnie, MD from 3-5 & 7-9pm on Monday March 6. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 7 at 10AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery - Crownsville.
