William Thomas Shannon

On July 19, 2025, Heaven gained another angel. William “Bill” Shannon, 79 years old, born on July 5, 1946, and passed away at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia, with his family by his side. Bill retired in 1985 from the US Navy, serving 23 years.

He married the love of his life, Edith Shannon, on January 21, 1982, at which time he gained three stepchildren: Lenny (Judy), Ernie (Candice), and Hazel (Doug). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kenny (Candice), Krystal (Chuck), Keith (Bobbie) and Jonathan (Savanna); nine great-grandchildren, Maycie, Alexis, Bradyn, Jaydin, Shayne, Alana, Ashlynn, Hunter and Zack; his sisters, Delores, Margo, Jackie and Lorraine, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, his sister, Shirley, and his best friend, his dog “Max”.

He will be sorely missed by everyone, including his BINGO friends from the Ferndale Fire Department. You're gone from sight but never forgotten in our hearts. Rest in Paradise, no more sickness or pain. RIP Bill.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Thursday, July 31st from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 14th at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel, followed by the burial at MD Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville with Navy Honors.
