William Newman

William “Bill” D. Newman, 74, of Millersville, passed away on December 11, 2021 in Arnold, Maryland. He was born in Butte, Montana to the late William and Lucille Newman. He honorably served in the Air Force during Vietnam from 1966-1972. After being honorably discharged, he went on to work for the Department of Defense, starting in 1974 and retiring in 2005 after many years of service. Bill enjoyed wood carving, fishing, hunting, world history, bowling, watching Jeopardy and the Redskins and was an avid reader. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Joyce C. Newman; loving children, Kristin Burnette (Jackson) and Mark Newman (Jenny); cherished grandsons, Reid, Liam and Cole Burnette; and his dear brother, Chris Newman (Hannah). He will also be missed by his five nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18th, 2 PM, at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, Glen Burnie. Family and friends may gather immediately following the service from 3 – 6 PM. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville at a later date. Donations may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association by visiting www.diabetes.org .
