William John Bussey

January 2, 1949 — July 4, 2025

William John Bussey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world on July 4, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland.  Born on January 2, 1949, in Annapolis, Maryland, William was a steadfast presence in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him.

From the tender age of 18, William dedicated his life to Powercon Corporation in Severn, where he worked diligently, ultimately achieving the esteemed position of Senior Planning Manager.  His commitment to his profession was a reflection of his character; he was a kind soul who would always take the time to help anyone in need, embodying the essence of generosity and compassion.

William's passions extended beyond his career.  He was an avid sports enthusiast, taking great pleasure in cheering for the Baltimore Orioles, Colts, Ravens, and Terps.  His love for fastpitch softball, along with fishing and hunting trips with his cousins, created cherished memories that he treasured deeply.  William was not just a sports fan but also embraced moments filled with laughter—whether through bowling, playing horseshoes, dancing, or telling stories while playing cards.  His connection to animals was profound, and his loyal companion, Sheeba, was a testament to his love for all living beings.

Among William's proudest accomplishments was signing with the Houston Astros in their minor league system as a shortstop, a dream he cherished.  Moreover, his heart swelled with pride as he coached and supported his children and grandchildren in their sporting endeavors, always encouraging them to strive for their best while instilling the values of hard work and determination.

William is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 55 years, Barbara A. Bussey, who was his partner and confidant throughout their journey together.  He leaves behind their cherished children: John Bussey, Mike Bussey and his wife Deana, and Katie Brim and her husband Chad.  He was a doting grandfather to Emily, Natalie, and Delilah, who brought immense joy and light to his life.  He is also mourned by his loving brother, Vaughn "Butch" Bussey, his dear sister, Faye Ann Smothers, and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

A Memorial Gathering to honor William’s remarkable life will be held on July 11, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services P.A. in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
