Walter David Dow

May 28, 1940 — October 10, 2025

Walter David Dow, a beloved figure, passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on May 28, 1940, in Malden, Massachusetts, Walter embraced life with an infectious sense of humor and a warmth that drew people to him.

After 25 years’ service to his country, Walter retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Walter was a proud Vietnam War Veteran. During his military career, he was stationed in Texas, Illinois, Hawaii, Maryland, Greenland and Nebraska. His commitment to excellence and leadership didn’t end with his military career; he continued to contribute in the telecommunications field at The National Security Administration. Walter's accomplishments were not just confined to his work; he was also active in his community, becoming involved in organizations such as the Ferndale Community Club, The Moose Lodge, The Elks Club, Democratic Club #32, and The American Legion. His participation in these groups showcased his passion for politics and civic engagement.

Walter's educational journey culminated in earning a Bachelor's Degree from The University of Maryland, a testament to his perseverance and thirst for knowledge. He had a love for golf and cruising, hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation throughout his life.

He is survived by his life partner, Jean M. Jeffery, who brought companionship and love to his later years. Walter also leaves behind his daughter, Robin A. Fink of Maryland, and his grandsons, Christian A. Fink of Florida, Bryce D. Fink and wife, Olivia, of West Virginia, and sister, Susan B. Hubbard of Delaware. Each of them will carry forward the legacy of laughter, kindness, and community service that Walter embodied.

Walter was preceded in death by his late wife of 46 years, Stella A. Dow, as well as his father, Howard and mother, Barbara Dow. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched, reminding us all to embrace life's moments with humor and purpose. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
