In Loving Memory of Stuart Kent Smith

January 28, 1953 - July 17, 2023

Glen Burnie, Maryland - On Monday, July 17, 2023, Stuart Kent Smith, beloved father, loving grandfather, and dear friend to many, passed away at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and unwavering love. Although his time on earth was cut short, his impact on those around him will continue to resonate for generations to come.

Born on January 28, 1953, to the late Sidney and Virginia Smith, Kent was the father of three children: James, Lance, and Ryan. He took great pride in his children and, through life lessons, instilled in them values of integrity, resilience, and the importance of family bonds. Kent found joy in his role as a grandfather and leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren: Courtney, Colin, Cassidy, Carson, Caleb, Tyler, Callie, Cooper, Elise, and Carrigan Smith. He adored each and every one of them, relishing in their milestones and accomplishments.

He was also a former spouse to Carol Miller of Bowie, MD, and a beloved brother who is survived by his siblings: Sandi McCartney of Glen Burnie, MD; Jodi Vanderford of Ozark, AL; Sidney Allen Smith of Fredericksburg, VA; Kim Smith of Glen Burnie, MD; and Cyndi Smith of Glen Burnie, MD. He shared special bonds with each of them, and their memories together will forever be cherished. He was preceded in death by his siblings Barbara Sneeringer and Vicki Lynn Smith, whose memories live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

A man of great integrity, Kent dedicated his early years to serving his country in the United States Army. Beyond his military service, Kent was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a source of support and insight to his family and friends, including his nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Kent. He would frequently host family gatherings on the weekends and was known for more than a few comical, yet direct, quips. Kent's caring nature touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His compassionate spirit and generosity will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

Family and friends are invited to join in a memorial service to celebrate Stuart Kent Smith's life, to be held at Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Stuart Kent Smith's presence will be deeply missed, but the love and memories he leaves behind will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and friends find comfort in the legacy of love he leaves behind.
