Ron, also known as Ronnie Joe, and Baba departed peacefully on September 24th, 2025, after a lengthy illness.
Ron was a lifelong musician, martial arts enthusiast, bass fisherman, Verizon retiree, and beloved father and husband. He was a master of many musical instruments of many genres, but mostly enjoyed playing in Beatles tribute bands. He is most recently known as the bass player for Abbey Road.
Born into a musical family from Johnson City, TN, his mother, Margaret Marie (MacInturff) Barnette, taught him how to play banjo. His equally musical father, Arthur (Bob) Barnette, taught him to appreciate music, camping, fishing, and to appreciate Civil War history.
He is survived by his wife Christine Nicole Barnette; children and grandchildren, whom he considered his pride and joy. They include: Ronald Joe Barnette, Jr., Matthew Henderson Barnette, Jessica Barnette -Carson, and Julia Marie Barnette. Additional family include Michelle Fleetwood (daughter) and Anthony Balsamo (step-son). Grandchildren included: Perish Trevor Barnette, Angelina Barnette-Lee, Colt Barnette, Ivy Carson, Olivia Marie Barnette, and Matilynn Eleanor Barnette.
He is survived by a brother, John Paul Barnette, and a sister, Susan Hopson, and a large extended family. Predeceased are brother, Robert Jack Barnette, sister Evelyn Jean Barnette, and sister Peggy Hoilman.
A celebration of life will be announced at Singleton Funeral Home.
