Robert Vincent Limerick, Jr. passed away at his home on December 4, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.  Born on July 13, 1941, Robert led a life full of wonderful experiences and touched the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Before joining the Anne Arundel County police force, Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1961 – 1964.  As a military police officer station in Germany, he achieved the rank of Corporal.  This early exposure to protecting and serving others laid the foundation for his later endeavors in law enforcement.  Robert served as a police officer for twenty years, demonstrating unwavering commitment throughout his faithful service.

After retiring from the police force, Robert found fulfillment as a court bailiff at the Glen Burnie courthouse.  In addition to his work in the legal system, he also gave of his time driving a school bus part-time.  It was clear that Robert's dedication to protecting and supporting others extended beyond his professional life.

A passionate supporter of sports, Robert actively coached in his early years and enjoyed his years as a grandparent as a base coach or cheering on the sidelines for his grandchildren. His unwavering support in any and all activities pursued by his kids and grandkids will be missed. He never shied away from letting his family know how proud he was of them and how much they were loved.

In addition to his professional and coaching pursuits, Robert had a deep love for the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens.  As an avid fan, he could often be found cheering on his beloved teams from the stands or in front of the television.  His passionate spirit undoubtedly elevated the excitement of game days for all those fortunate enough to join him.

Above all else, Robert cherished spending time with family.  His wife of 58 years, Rita A. Limerick, was his rock, providing unwavering support throughout their journey together.  Their children, Karla Limerick DiMatteo and Robert Vincent Limerick III and his wife Hollie, brought immeasurable joy into their lives and will forever carry their father's love in their hearts.

Robert's love extended to the next generation as he adored his grandchildren, Nicholas Ryan DiMatteo, Devan Marie Arizmendi, Nathan Cullen DiMatteo, Darian Nicole DiMatteo, and Kyra Eilene Limerick.  Their laughter and joyful moments together created memories that will forever be treasured.

Robert was predeceased by a sister, June Pilli, a sister Nancy Silk, and a brother Joseph Limerick.  Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Roberta Blades, and many extended family members and friends.  His warm presence and his ability to find humor in all he did will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert Vincent Limerick, Jr.'s life was one that exemplified love, dedication, and selflessness.  He touched the lives of countless individuals as an officer of the law, a mentor on the sports field, a devoted fan of Baltimore sports teams, and most importantly, as a loving family man.  The impact he made during his time with us will continue to resonate for generations to come.

In honoring Robert's memory, let us remember his unwavering commitment to serving others and cherishing every precious moment with loved ones.  May his legacy inspire us all to live with compassion, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to making this world a better place.  Rest in peace, Robert Vincent Limerick Jr., knowing that your life has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those whose lives you touched.
