Robert "Bob" Stanley Halter

On Tuesday, December 19th, 2023, Robert “Bob” Halter, 80, of Severn, MD passed away at home with his family by his side.   Beloved husband of 56 years to Linda E. Halter, loving father to Heather L Gapen and her husband Mark. Devoted Grandfather to Katherine and David Gapen.  Brother-in-law of Dennis W. Ede and Uncle to many nieces and nephews.   He was born on February 12th, 1943 to the late Robert and Dorothy Halter of Vestal, New York.  

Bob enlisted in the United States Navy on April 28, 1966.   In the Navy, he was a data processing officer where he served for twenty years until retiring as a Senior Chief in 1986.  During his career in the Navy, Bob earned various awards and commendations, including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Navy Expeditionary Medal for 10 operations, and The Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.  During his time in the Navy, Bob met Chief Petty Officer Charles Edwards.  During tours in Iceland and Virginia, Charlie, along with his wife Katherine (Susie) and their children, Jenny, Jeff, and Jay, became very close and maintained their friendship long after they both retired.

Bob was an avid reader and enjoyed watching and playing sports.  He was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan, and was a collector of baseball cards.  All Services and Inurnment will be held at a later date privately.  Arrangements were handled by the Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services Glen Burnie, MD.

In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in his name to your local Humane Society.
