Richard Eugene Garde

August 29, 1945 — October 31, 2025

Richard Eugene Garde, born on August 29, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland, left this world on October 31, 2025, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering dedication.

For thirty years, Richard served as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service, where his commitment to his community was evident in every letter he delivered.  His colleagues and patrons alike recognized him not just for his exemplary work ethic but for the kindness he showed to everyone he encountered along his route.  Richard’s life was one of service, marked by his time in the United States Navy, where he bravely served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate (Jet Engine Mechanic) from 1963 to 1966, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class.  His military service exemplified his dedication to his country and shaped the man he would become.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Richard was a proud member of the American Legion Post 40 and the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch #4422, where he served as treasurer, further underscoring his commitment to community involvement.

Richard is survived by his three loving daughters, Linda M. Fields, Susan G. Stutzman, and Karen L. Ries, who, alongside her husband Jay, were sources of joy and pride in his life.  He relished his role as a grandfather to Jessica, Liella, Damon, and Dominic, and his heart swelled with love for them.  Additionally, Richard shared a unique bond with his twin sister, Joan Garde, who has been a constant support throughout his life.

He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Donna L. Garde, with whom he shared 53 cherished years, and by his beloved parents, Florence and Arthur Garde.  Each of these relationships held a special place in Richard's heart, shaping the values he lived by and the love he imparted to those around him.

Richard’s presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.  Friends and family are invited to honor his memory at a visitation on November 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 PM at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services P.A.  In celebrating Richard's life, let us reflect on the warmth he brought into our lives and the enduring legacy he leaves behind.
