May 7, 1944 — June 20, 2025

Millersville

Regina Bernadette Smouse, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at home with family surrounding her, in Millersville, Maryland. Born on May 7, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee, she carried a spirit of warmth and creativity throughout her life. Regina "Gina" dedicated her career to serving the community as a Rural Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service until her retirement.

Gina was a remarkable individual who found joy in creating homemade holiday craft gifts for her family members, reflecting her thoughtful and loving nature. She also had a passion for singing and reading, with a particular fondness for watching her favorite teams, the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, as they competed on the field. Proud of her Tennessee roots, she cherished the rich history and vibrant culture of her birthplace. She was an active member of her church at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Severn starting with raising funds to build the church. Once built, she then joined the Choir, Ladies Auxiliary, and Sacristans Committee

Gina leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 61 years, William Francis Smouse; her daughter, Angela Mason; her son, William Frederick Smouse; and her grandson, Jeremy Andrew Brookshire (Laura Denise). Regina was also a proud great-grandmother to Millie Rose Brookshire, Elouise James Brookshire, and Audrey Faye Brookshire. Her siblings, Anne "Squeaky" Sams, Shirley Prendergast (Mike), Tony Salomone (Catherine), Patti Taylor and Sylvia "Chigger" Tolan will carry the memories of "Gentle Gina", their beloved sister close to their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her cherished daughter, Laurie Denise Smouse, and her siblings, Jo Marie Lowe, Ellen Thursby, and Vinny Salomone, as well as her parents, Vincent C. Salomone and Josephine M. Prickett Salomone. Each of these family members holds a special place in the tapestry of Gina's rich life story.
