Retired Chief Aviation Electronics Technician Patrick F. Landis passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2026. A native of Linthicum, Maryland, Patrick has lived in Norfolk, Virginia since 2003.
Patrick devoted 22 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Navy, where he retired as a decorated Chief Petty Officer. His commitment to service went beyond his military duties, as reflected in the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal he received, primarily for his invaluable contributions to both State and National Park Services. This recognition underlined Patrick’s enduring dedication to public service and the environment.
Outside of his military career, Patrick was a man of many passions. Music was a significant part of his life; he expressed himself through drumming and guitar, and he found joy not only in playing but also in attending concerts and music festivals.
He also had a profound love for nature and adventure. He was an avid hiker, having traversed multiple sections of the Appalachian Trail, which showcased his adventurous spirit. Additionally, he embraced Virginia and Florida’s waterways, exploring their beauty through paddling.
Patrick is survived by his loving brother, Michael Landis and his wife, Jamie; and his adored nephew and niece, Sean and Emaleigh. He was preceded in death by his devoted mother, Judith Donnelly; beloved grandmother, Eileen Donnelly; and his dear uncle, James Donnelly II.
