Norma "Pat" Gates

Norma “Pat” Gates of Brentwood, Maryland was born on February 1, 1928, and passed away May 22, 2021, she was 93 years old. She was born in Montgomery, County and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School. She had no children of her own but was an aunt and second mother to, but not limited, the following: Laurie and John Handiboe, Brittanny, Sean, and Little Finnian Halper, Dawn and Brian Walsh, Samantha, Brien and Little Graycie-Ann DeRose, and Shelby Allen. She was preceded in death by sister and brothers Fran Queen, Chipy Gates, Wayne Gates and Donnie Gates Sr. as well as her hand-picked brother and sister Edward and Ann McCloskey. She leaves behind a very special friend and sister-in-law Janet Gates. She had the honor of being God Mother to Brittanny Halper and Donnie Gates Jr. and would say that she felt incredibly grateful to hold that title for them. She was an extremely selfless woman who many would and still call her an angel sent from the heavens above and a true saint on earth. She was not only giving to anyone she met but caring beyond measure. She may have been 93 but she was so young at heart and so full of life. She was our short precious little lady who brightened any room she entered and always made you feel at home with her warm smile and laughter. Anyone who knew her would, without a shadow of a doubt, say that they were honored to have spent even a few minutes around her. She is dearly missed and no other person will ever take her place or fill her small, yet huge shoes. Services will be held Thursday morning and afternoon at Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie, Maryland followed by funeral processions Friday morning also at Singletons Funeral Home followed by grave side services at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland.
