Ned Wolfe, 99, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 30, 2025. He was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to the late Russell H. and Cathryn M. (Derk) Wolfe.
Ned proudly served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946, a calling that filled him with a sense of duty and pride. He went on to own Wolfe’s Body Shop in Ferndale and later, retiring from the State of Maryland after many years of service.
A devout Christian, Ned was a founding member of Townsend Avenue Baptist Church and an active member of Linthicum Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsman in his younger years, Ned found joy in camping and hunting. His cherished property in the mountains became a sanctuary where he spent countless hours creating unforgettable adventures for his loved ones.
Woodworking was another passion of Ned’s, where he displayed his creativity and craftsmanship. Whether it be through constructing intricate Lego designs, playing golf alongside his late wife or spending quality time bowling with his son, Ned understood the importance of family bonds and took great delight in making every moment fun. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 76 years, Dorothy May Wolfe; and his siblings, Jack Wolfe, Russell Wolfe and Marlene Philipkowski.
Ned is survived by his loving children, Penny Brock (Keller), Wendy Lichtenberg (Jerry); cherished grandsons, Kenny Eckenrode, Shane Eckenrode (Sharie), Matthew Lichtenberg (Lauren), Ryan Lichtenberg and Jared Lichtenberg; and his adored great-grandchildren, Molly, Huntley and Tanner. He will also be missed by many loving nieces and nephews.
