Marshall Hyre

Marshall Ellis Hyre, age 83, of Glen Burnie, MD, died on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at home from natural causes.  Born August 19, 1937 in Hyndman, PA and raised in Moorefield, WV, he was the son of the late Ellis Gochenour Hyre and Pearl Lillian Crites Hyre, and brother to the late Helen Maude Hyre Neff. Mr. Hyre is survived by his loving, cherished wife of 54 years, D. Jeanette Hyre, son Jeffrey Hyre and wife Sandra, son Bryan Hyre and wife Michele, and granddaughters Emiley, Lillian and Sophia.

Mr. Hyre graduated from Moorefield High School and served in the United States Army.  He graduated from Wheeling Barber College and was employed as a barber at Bart’s Barber Shop in Laurel, MD. Later, he worked for General Electric and retired from Holman Distribution.  Marshall (“Pops”) liked watching westerns, reading, studying the Bible, and enjoying his wife’s delicious cooking.  He loved reciting scriptures and singing his favorite hymns. Marshall especially cherished spending time with his beloved family.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Singleton Funeral Home, Glen Burnie, MD, on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, with a graveside funeral service to be officiated by Pastor Gary Shirk, Jr. following on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 1pm at the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.
