Marita Engler, born December 24th, 1944, peacefully departed this life on January 31, 2026. She was a bright soul, devoted wife, caring Mother and wonderful Oma, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love!
The daughter of the late Otto and Erna Steudle, she spent her youth in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Growing up she was surrounded by her two brothers and a family who exuded love and taught her to always be kind and extend a helping hand to others.
Marita dedicated her professional years to the field of accounting. She spent many years serving with diligence and integrity at the International Organization of Masters, Mates, and Pilots until her retirement. Yet, it was with her family, in her community, and in the lives of those around her that Marita truly shined!
Marita has called America home since 1963, settling down in the Linthicum community with her husband, Earl and daughter, Evelyn in 1979. Excited to embrace her community she became an esteemed member of the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church and the Pascal Senior Center alongside Earl. She was a vibrant presence, actively engaging with those around her and participating in community events. Besides her love to cook and bake she had a particular fondness for line dancing, gardening, and crocheting, finding delight in creating for herself and others.
Her kitchen was often filled with the delightful aroma of cooking and baked goods, as Marita relished in preparing meals for her family and friends. But perhaps one of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. A grandmother who made sure her grandchildren knew nothing but love, spoiling them not only with affection but her sweet treats too. Many days and nights filled with never ending conversations, laughter, and unforgettable memories that her family will cherish forever.
Though Linthicum was her home, you could never keep Marita in one place for too long. She was a woman who loved to see the world and meet new people. Every vacation and trip an opportunity for the new experiences and culture that each city, state or country could offer. Above all, Marita loved people. She opened her home with a heart full of generosity, welcoming all who entered with open arms and an infectious laughter that could light up any room. She embraced every holiday and birthday celebration with enthusiasm, ensuring that each occasion was a cherished memory.
Marita was predeceased by her parents and brother, Reiner, now they are reunited once again in heaven. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Earl Engler; loving daughter, Evelyn Koucheravy, son-in-law John Koucheravy ; and her cherished and beloved grandchildren : granddaughter; Erika, as well as her grandsons; Chris, Tim and his wife, Jenny. She will also be missed by her dear brother, Walter Steudle, and his family in Germany. Though an ocean between them her love for them was unwavering.
