Jim was 91 years old when he passed away on Nov 30, 2021 from an aneurism and recently identified cancer. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, LaVonne who is now 93. They had four children Buddy, Darlena, Dale, and Cheryl who predeceased Dad. Together they have 7 grand kids and spouses and 10 great grandkids and spouses.
He was born in Annapolis with 4 brothers: Eddie, Bobby, Tommy, and Jack. Dad always said the men did well because they all married good women. He spent a good many years growing up with Uncle Allen and Aunt Ruby. He attended Annapolis High School until he joined the Navy for a tour in Norfolk and Hawaii. From there he worked with the Maryland State Police, the White House Police, the DC police, and the US Marshall Service in DC and Baltimore. He retired in 1985.
Dad had a big extended family and he always enjoyed regular family gatherings. He was a story teller, a teaser, a jokester, and always willing to help anyone who needed help with unconditional love. He was a lifelong bowler. We are so grateful to have had him with us for 91 years.
In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated and will be buried at the MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
Dad was adamant that he wanted a party and not a celebration of life. So, no speeches, just lunch and games that he would like. Please join us on Saturday, June 10th, from 1-3 pm at Singleton’s Celebration Center, 206 Crain Highway, Glen Burnie, MD. We’ll have a few more laughs as we remember Dad. He would like that.
