Lois Jean Hanson White

Lois Jean Hanson White, 87 a resident of Millersville, MD passed away on August 5, 2024, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Lois was born May 23, 1937, in Cornstalk, WV. She was the daughter of the late Lucille (Donaldson) and Sterling Hanson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Preston White, Her son, John Kenneth White; her brothers, Carrol R. Hanson, Lonnie L. Hanson and her sister, Betty J. Heller.

She graduated from Lewisburg High School, Lewisburg, WV as treasurer of the National Honor Society. She graduated with honors from Goldey Beacom College with a General Secretarial diploma.

She had a 37-year career with the Federal Government retiring from the Social Security Administration, Woodlawn, MD as a Disability Examiner in 1995.

Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, computer games, walking on the beach, and reading.

She was a member of the Social Security Alumni Association, National Association of Federal Employees and Olde Mill Community Association.

Lois is survived by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Bunting of Vinton, VA and Delores (Dee) Ingle of Wilmington, DE. Her sister-in-law Dreama Chinski of Wilmington, DE preceded her in death. Between Lois’ two families, she was blessed with 16 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was known for her kindness, patience, loyalty and especially for being a good listener. Lois will be remembered by those lives she touched.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Tuesday, Aug. 13th from 10 am to 12 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
