Lloyd T. Tyson, Sr.

June 4, 1953 — June 21, 2025

Glen Burnie

Lloyd Thomas Tyson, Sr., passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. He was born on June 4, 1953, in Cheverly, Maryland.

He attended public school in Landover, Maryland, and pursued a college education. Lloyd, affectionately known as Tony to his friends and family, proudly served in the United States Army from September 28, 1972, to April 1, 1974, as a military police officer under the Department of National Defense Service.

Following his military service, Lloyd worked for the Department of Defense for approximately forty-four years before retiring in 2018.

He married Shirley McFadden in July 1986. From that union came three children: Nikki Blackhill, Anthony Tyson, Lloyd Thomas Tyson, Jr., and a godson, Anthony Thomas.

Lloyd is survived by seven grandchildren: Ashley, Lauryn, Anthony, Kiarra, Tarshiqua, Meyanni, and Marquis; and ten great-grandchildren: Kennedi, Rylei, Devyn, Skyla, Brooklyn, Kash, Kai, Klover, Milan, and McKinley.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Tyson; two brothers, Willie Brice and Robert Brice; and one sister, Kathleen Brice.

Special thanks to Jerry, a loyal friend and bonus brother, who supported Lloyd in his final years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida King; brothers Garfield Tyson and Gerard Tyson; and sister Anne Bryce.

Lloyd enjoyed the racetrack, playing poker, and working at Uncle Bob’s Family Business, Inner-City Towing. He was a Washington Redskins fan and avid follower of politics on CNN and MSNBC. Known for his lively conversations and financial wisdom, he was frugal and a strong motivator. He loved sitting on the back porch, sharing lively conversations and some playful trash talk.
