Lillian Warnken, of Linthicum, MD passed away peacefully at her home and surrounded by her family on January 11, 2024. She was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Frank and Katherine Fowler. Lillian married Stewart Warnken in 1940 and was married for 68 years until his death in 2008. They settled in Linthicum in 1949 and raised three children there. She was a very active member of St. John Lutheran Church since its construction in 1954. She was devoted to her church and her contributions to it are too many to mention. Lillian was a great many things to those who knew her. A fantastic mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. We are all poorer for her passing.
As anyone who knows her will tell you, she was a happy, always smiling, force of nature with a positive attitude. Was warm and welcoming the moment you met her. She loved to laugh and had the gift of laughter that could fill a room.
It’s hard to sum up a 104 plus-year life, and the contributions she made during her life in just a few paragraphs because stories of her life on this earth could fill a novel. Her earthly story ends as she joyously moves on to see her Heavenly Father and those who have passed before her. But, in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, “Lillian’s Story” will live on and on.
Lillian is survived by her beloved children, Judi Smith, Tom Warnken and Patti Warnken. Their spouses, William Smith, Sharon Volmerhausen and Michael Nemo. Her grandchildren, Gary Smith, Chad Smith and Brandon Warnken along with five great-grandchildren. She will be greeted as she passes into heaven by her loving husband, Stew Warnken and the son they lost shortly after birth, John Warnken. Heaven has just gained an incredible angel.
