Kristie Lynn Battista, 55, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, surrounded by her family. Kristie was a devoted wife and mother, an outstanding daughter and sister, a loyal friend, a mentor to some, and inspiration to all that knew her and her journey.
She was born in Baltimore to Henry and Darlene Evans. She grew up in Pasadena and always referenced how much she loved it. She graduated from Northeast High School and went on to be a lifelong learner, earning two undergraduate degrees, several graduate degrees and certificates, and even completed her PhD coursework.
Her passion for learning and reading led her to dedicate her life to teaching, nurturing and inspiring others in her role as an educator within the Anne Arundel County school system. For 27 years, Kristie served as a teacher, reading specialist, Assistant Principal and Principal. She absolutely loved children and cared deeply about them personally and academically. Beyond the students, Kristie often remarked about how much she liked the school environment. She liked and was good at interacting with teachers, aids, administrators, and especially the families. She loved the communities she taught in, and it showed. And the communities embraced her back. There is no doubt that her legacy will live on for years to come.
Beyond work, Kristie had many interests, none more so than her family. Kristie consistently supported her sons at sports events; she enjoyed cooking; she loved going to the beach; she liked to read; she liked to garden; she loved to talk and would do so with anyone she came in contact with; she kept learning; and, finally, she took care of herself when she retired in September 2022.
Kristie is survived by her devoted husband of 28 years, Anthony; cherished sons, Nicholas Anthony Battista (Britney Castle) and Santino Vincent Battista (Emma Sullivan); caring mother, Darlene Evans; and loving sister, Heather Koon. She will also be missed by her dear nephew and niece, Jack and Meg Koon as well as her other nieces and nephews (Clarissa, Eric, Amber, Zachary, Vincent, Gabrielle, Noah, Jacob, and Luke). Kristie was preceded in death by her father, Henry Evans.
As we gather to honor her memory, we invite family and friends to join us for a visitation at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services PA in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on Sunday, September 28th, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
