John Linwood Sullivan, Jr. (Skip), born December 29, 1950, in Hyattsville, MD, died July 29, 2024, surrounded by family, after a long illness. Predeceased by parents, John L. Sullivan, Sr., and Paulette L. (nee Cote) Gagne.
Skip is survived by his spouse, Dr. Tatyana Sullivan (nee Silchenko); loving daughters and step-daughter, Julie Sullivan Kiesler (James), Jodie L. Sullivan (Phil) and Maria Alabin (Art); cherished grandchildren, Beth Kiesler, Reece Relunia, Emma Kiesler, Nikita Alabin and Nastia Alabin; dear siblings, Jacqueline Sullivan-Putman, (Thurman-predeceased) (CT), Jean L. Sullivan (WI), J. Lance Sullivan (Jan) (MD), Jerry L. Sullivan (Debra) (CT), and Joy L. Collelo (George) (CT), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
His days as an Eagle scout, to his musical pursuits playing the clarinet and recording Broadway tunes in his youth, Skip's artistic soul knew no bounds. His love for the great outdoors led him to exhilarating hunting and fishing adventures, where he achieved feats most can only dream of - reeling in a massive 300-pound tuna and a colossal 650-pound mako shark. Skip's career path was as diverse as his interests. From navigating the streets as a taxi driver to tantalizing taste buds as the head chef for TWA Airlines, owning bustling restaurants to mastering the art of professional crabbing and captaining fishing. He also raised quail and often gifted their eggs.
Educated at the University of Connecticut and later earning a degree in accounting from the University of Baltimore, Skip’s acumen led him to establish his own successful business as a certified public accountant specializing in both domestic and international taxes. Alongside his wife, he explored the world through countless adventures, including frequent cruises and visits to the Caribbean, Europe, Central and South America.
