Helen Doane

Helen Ernestine Doane, 88, of Ferndale, passed away on February 8, 2021, at North Arundel Health & Rehab.  Helen was born in Saltville, Virginia, on June 14,1932, to the late Dora and Claude Kestner.  She worked in the accounting department at Montgomery Ward in Baltimore and then was a long-term substitute teacher for Anne Arundel County.  She enjoyed dancing, gardening, cooking, playing Scrabble, solving crossword puzzles and watching the Ravens games.  Most of all, Helen loved spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Helen was predeceased by her devoted husband of 59 years, D.L. Doane, and her dear siblings, Irene States and Robert Kestner.  She is survived by her loving children, Donald (Darlene) Doane, Deborah (Robert) Bennett, Kenneth (Barbara) Doane, and Michael Doane; her cherished grandchildren, Glenn, Jeff, Laura, Kimberly, Owen, and Matthew; and her four beloved great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 10 AM, at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 7215 Ritchie Hwy, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.  The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1850 York Road, Ste.
