Gloria May Straut

May 2, 1940 — May 10, 2024

Gloria May Straut, a beloved homemaker and devoted Mom, passed away on May 10, 2024, in Millersville, Maryland.  She was born on May 2, 1940, in Passaic, New Jersey to the late Olga May and Stephen Kmetz.  Gloria touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and loving nature.
Throughout her life, Gloria found joy in simple pleasures such as completing crossword puzzles, indulging in the latest headlines from the New York Times, enjoying heartwarming movies on the Hallmark Channel, immersing herself in the world of Happy Color on her iPad, tending to her garden with care, and finding peace in bird-watching.
Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever be cherished by those who knew her.  She is survived by her daughter, Pamela A. Hicho and her husband George Patrick Hicho; son, James A. Straut and his wife Michaela Trnkova; grandsons, Andrew and Hayden Hicho; as well as her dear sister, Dorothy Kmetz. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Gerard A. Straut, whose love and companionship brought endless happiness to Gloria throughout their journey together.  Also preceding her in death was her brother, Stephen "Tippy" Kmetz.
Gloria May Straut will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her gentle spirit that lit up any room she entered, and the countless memories she created with those she held dear.  As we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, let us also celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, laughter, and beautiful moments that will live on in our hearts forever.
