George Verzi

February 20, 1932 — February 15, 2023

George William “Bill” Verzi, 90 of Severn, MD passed away on February 15, 2023. Bill was born on February 20, 1932 in Baltimore to the late Anthony and Elmira Verzi. He graduated from Southern High School in 1951 and was a member of the high school band. He was also a Parks and Hall Carter PI Graduate of 1955. Bill served in the US Navy from 1951-1954 as a Navy plane Captain of the CVA 20 Carrier Attack Aircraft. He worked for 27 years for RPS Auto Parts and retired as District Manager. He also worked in sales for Dryden Oil. Bill was a longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Severn, MD where he served as the first Eucharistic Minister. He belonged to the Chesapeake Bay Sport Fishing Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge. Bill’s hobbies included fishing, crabbing, boating, woodworking, mechanical work, music, traveling to historic sites and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Shirley A. Verzi; his children, Anthony Verzi and his wife, Traci of Pasadena, MD; Leslie Julian and predeceased husband, Timothy of Annapolis, MD; and Kathy Gahs and her husband, William of Pasadena, MD; his brother, Paul Radavsky of Finksburg, MD; his grandchildren, Lucas Adolph of Shenandoah, TX; Alyssah Swain and her husband, Mitchell of Pasadena, MD; Alana Julian of Annapolis, MD; Tyler Gahs of Washington, DC; and Matthew Gahs and his wife, Shannon of Bel Air, MD; and three great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and brother-in-law, Albert Norgran, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, John Radavsky of Scottsboro, AL

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 12 – 1 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow with military honors at MD Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.
