George W. Bloxom, Jr.

George W. Bloxom, Jr., a cherished member of his community and a dedicated public servant, passed away on June 4, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. Born on December 8, 1946, in Tasley, Virginia, George spent his life in service to others, most notably through his very proud career as a firefighter with the Baltimore City Fire Department from 1970 until his retirement in 1999. His commitment to safety and service left a lasting legacy in the lives of those he helped and inspired.

George's sense of duty extended beyond his profession; he was also a proud member of Pythagoras Lodge No. 123 and Glen Burnie Lodge #213, reflecting his dedication to brotherhood and community support. In addition to his work and community involvement, George had a multitude of interests that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. He enjoyed gun marksmanship and shooting, fishing, crabbing, and hunting, all of which brought him joy and a sense of adventure. He also delved into his family genealogy, always eager to share stories of the past. A true handyman, George took great pleasure in home improvements, creating things that were both functional and welcoming.

George is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene M. Bloxom; his sons, George R. Bloxom, Sr. (Kristie), and Daniel W. Bloxom (Mary); and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bloxom, Alison Bloxom, George R. Bloxom, Jr., Brianna Bloxom, and Raelyn Bloxom. His family was a source of pride and joy for him, and he cherished the time spent with them, sharing in their growth and accomplishments.

He is predeceased by his father, George W. Bloxom, Sr.; his mother, Ellen Frances Thompson Bloxom McConnell; his sister, Alice Lee; and his beloved dog, "Fanci." George's legacy of service, love, and dedication to his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation services will be held at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. His family invites all who wish to honor George's memory to join them in celebrating the remarkable life he led.
