Dolores E. Tippett

February 23, 1935 — May 1, 2025

Linthicum

Dolores E. Tippett, affectionately known as "Grandma T," passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Baltimore, MD, at the age of 90. A devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and community.

Born February 23, 1935 to Francis and Margaret (nee Doran) Tewey, Dolores grew up in Locust Point, MD and enjoyed frequent visits to nearby Fort McHenry.

Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew Preston (“Prey”) Tippett, affectionally known as “Pop". Together they raised a family rooted in love and support in Linthicum, MD. She adored the countless summer days spent in the family pool with the grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter Anne Scott (Gary); sons, William Tippett (Robin) and Thomas Tippett (Lynn); six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her family was the heart of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She dedicated much of her professional life to public service, working as a secretary and executive assistant for the State of Maryland. Her commitment to excellence and her steady presence made her a valued colleague throughout her career.

Beyond her family devotion and professional accomplishments, Dolores lived a life rich with purpose and joy. Her faith guided much of her life’s work; she was actively involved in the Catholic Church and found fulfillment through service to others. She was an avid participant in Volksmarch travel events—walking adventures that took her to new places while fostering camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts. In later years, she contributed her time to the Charlestown Treasure Shop, where she enjoyed connecting with neighbors and giving back to the community.

A service honoring Dolores’ life will be held at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown, located at 715 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD. A Celebration of Life and Family Visitation will begin one hour prior. Following the Mass of Christian Burial, interment will take place at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, where Grandma T and Pop will lay together in eternal rest. The date and times are to be determined. Please check back for updates.

Dolores Tippett will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to family and community. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in her honor to School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND), Baltimore, MD. https://atlanticmidwest.org/give/online
