Dean Evans McPhee, 85, of Severn, formerly of Annandale, VA and Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on February 4, 2022. He was born in Boston, MA to the late Arthur Evans and Ruth Miriam McPhee. He attended Lexington Christian Academy, Eastern Nazarene College and The American University (Washington, D.C.), receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in information technology. He enlisted in the Army in 1954, trained as a heavy equipment operator, and helped build runways at Stansted Airport in Stansted, UK. He was honorably discharged in 1957. He was employed by several federal agencies and defense contractors, finally serving as a systems analyst at Information Spectrum, Inc., in Arlington, VA, retiring after 27 years. Post-retirement he was a route manager for The Wall Street Journal. Devoted to his faith, Dean was an active member of Grace Pointe Community Church of the Nazarene in Severn. Some of his hobbies included model trains, jigsaw puzzles, and strategy table games. As his children were growing up, he coached Little League baseball and taught Sunday school. He also loved animals, especially cats and Shih-Tzu dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Elsie Troup and Carole McPhee.

Dean is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Joyce Smith McPhee; loving children, Karen Tavares (Jeffrey), Gregory McPhee (Tina) and Glenn McPhee (Lisa); 10 cherished grandchildren; and five beloved great-grandchildren.
