Calvin James Klasmeier, Jr.

On Monday, December 12, 2022, Calvin, beloved husband for over 66 years, of Nancy Regina Klasmeier (nee Hollenberry); dear father of Karen Anne Harrell (deceased), Steven James (Janice), Jeffrey David (Donna), and Kevin Michael Sr. (Priscilla); cherished grandfather of Rachel Ashley Harrell (Chad) and Kevin Michael Klasmeier Jr.; step-grandfather of Matthew (Stacey); step-great-grandfather of Robert, Camren, and Nora Aaron.  Calvin is also mourned by his sisters, Audrey Marston and Barbara Briggs, and brother, Terry.  He was predeceased by his parents, Calvin, Sr. and Eleanor (Sis); sisters, Margaret (Liberto), Catherine, and brother, Carroll.

Calvin was a lifelong champion breeder and fancier of pedigreed racing pigeons, for which he won numerous awards and trophies.  His life revolved around family, his sons’ athletic accomplishments, and his dearly loved grandchildren.

Although he devoted much time to his hobby of breeding and racing pedigreed racing pigeons, his children, and later grandchildren were the most important things in his life.  While not a practicing Catholic, he made sure that all his children attended parochial school and his Rachel and Kevin Jr. attended Archbishop Spalding High School.  He determined that his grandchildren’s college tuition was paid and took great pride in their academic accomplishments.  Calvin rarely missed any of his sons’ basketball games or track meets.  Although he left school early and never completed his education, he cared for his children at night so Nancy could obtain her degree.  His family meant everything to him, and the loss of his Karen hurt him deeply.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. S. W. (at Crain Hwy) on Friday, December 16th, from 11 AM – 1 PM.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on immediately following at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel.  Interment to follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
