August 12, 1959 — May 2, 2018

On Wednesday, May 2, 2018 Douglas Henry Close, 58, of Millersville passed away at University of Maryland Hospital following his liver transplant. Doug was born in McClure, Pennsylvania where he spent his childhood days before the family moved to Maryland. He graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1977. He worked for Classic Motors and US Airways for many years and finally retired after serving as a state employee at BWI Airport. Doug enjoyed boating, jet skiing, the beach, watching the Orioles, Baltimore Ravens and Ice Hockey.

Doug's life had lots of laughter he enjoyed spending time with Jessie, Abbey, and James, the children of Martha and John Smith and Logan son of Kendal Keirsey and Lyle Dotson.
He enjoyed going to Jessie's softball games and having all the children giving him a helping hand when needed. These neighbors meant the world to him they were always looking out for him. Doug was always grateful for them.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Christa; and his dad, Robert Close.
He is survived by his loving mother, Loreen Close; dear brother, Mark and sister-in-law Darlene Close; uncle, Dr. Nelson Kline (Beverly); aunts, Sue Lane Fisher (Barry), and Nancy Cowder (Irvin) and his lovable cats, Mylee and Krychee.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A 1 2nd Avenue SW (at Crain) Hwy.) in Glen Burnie on Friday, May 11 from 5-7PM with a service to follow at 7PM in the funeral home chapel.
