Dorothy Downin

On October 23, 2017, Dorothy Mae Downin, 95, of Severn, Maryland, passed away at an assisted living facility in Glen Burnie. Dorothy was born on June 25, 1922, in Maryland, to the late Anna and James Vacek. She was a homemaker that enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking for the gang, and fixing the delicious Maryland crabs her husband, Hobert, brought home. Bingo was also a favorite of hers.
Dorothy was predeceased by her devoted husband of 57 years, Hobert C. Downin, and her siblings, Mildred Speal, James Vacek, Frances Buckman, Rose Walz, Anna Wagner, Joseph Vacek, Mary Warner, and Jerome Vacek. She is survived by her beloved children, Patsy L. Rabickow and her husband Thomas, and Leroy C. Downin; her eight loving grandchildren, seven dear great-grandchildren, and four cherished great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave, SW (at Crain Hwy), in Glen Burnie, on Monday, October 30th, from 3-5 and 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 31st, at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel. A graveside service will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
