Gloria Hughes

Gloria Jean Hughes (nee Wimpling), 73, of Glen Burnie, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 28, 2021. She was born in Baltimore to the late Ethel Lee and Timothy Joseph Wimpling Sr. Gloria was a member of the South Baltimore Lunch Club and enjoyed gardening, going to Disney and spending time at the beach.

Gloria is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Hughes Jr.; devoted son, Jason Boyd; cherished grandchildren, Jason Boyd Jr., Jillian Neal, Gavin Boyd and Griffin Boyd; loving great-grandson, Asher Neal; and loving brother, Timothy J. Wimpling Jr. and his wife, Rosemary. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive visitors at the family owned Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave SW (at Crain Hwy) Glen Burnie on Friday, March 5th, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or by visiting www.stjude.org. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only allowing 50 people inside the funeral home at one time and requiring masks for all visitors.  We kindly ask that you please keep your visit brief, as there may be people waiting to enter the funeral home.
