Stanley Jacobs

Stanley Gerald Jacobs, 79, a resident of Glen Burnie, passed away on March 16, 2013 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Stanley was born on January 14, 1934 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Ida & David Jacobs. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves; then went on to work as a civil servant for close to 40 years with the Army. Stanley was a member of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees). He was a service officer for them for twenty years and president of the Glen Burnie Chapter for nine years. Stanley was also a member and usher at Glen Burnie United Methodist Church. He enjoyed helping people, crossword puzzles, wood crafting, comedy shows, and telling jokes. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert, Richard and Donald Jacobs, and Ruth Blackburn. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Barbara M. Jacobs (nee Slothower); his two loving children, Earl Jacobs and his wife Ann, Pam Nehring and her husband Howard; his cherished grandchildren, Dustin Nehring, Thomas and Adam Jacobs; his beloved siblings, Miriam Fisher, Gertrude Demmy, James and Joseph Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church OR to the American Cancer Society Memorial Program, 1041 Route 3 North, Building A1, Gambrills, MD 21054.
